Unexpected. This word would summarise my first class in one word. Who would have imagined an 8 AM class would be super exciting and engaging. To make things more surprising, this class is all about the technological realm, the digital world to be precise!!

Something I really need to learn about. Besides the fact that this class made me realise how much I did not know about my own privacy and security online, I was also explicitly informed about the power of learning how to use digital resources to improve my daily life. Moreover, I learned how it could further increase my productivity, help me become efficient and also groom my time management skills.

As a student, I do love using a pen and paper to take down notes or plan my schedule. That being said, with college moving entirely online I was forced to adopt a digital academic lifestyle. I started with creating a database of all my notes (mostly screenshots of important slides or sometimes the entire PPT on Notion. I would also download them and store them on my laptop for future reference). One important self realisation I had before college, or should I say, one hidden observation that I have been making since the time my mother got a laptop, is how digital disorganisation can affect one mentally and eventually physically.

I noticed that my mother found it difficult to handle her files or look for documents with all the clutter that she failed to give attention to in the start. This clutter piled up leading to her stressing out when she would not find a file or when Apple would repeatedly notify that her storage is ALMOST FULL. This would result in her wasting time by going through the junk and, in the process, deleting 3 year old screenshots of dresses that she now already owns!!

From the day I got my laptop I made a promise to myself. I will be as organised as I can, to the extent the maybe Netflix would want to make a show on my superhero capabilities- "The Virtual Marie Kondo." they would call me. It is safe to say the I live up to the self-proclaimed title as I have educated myself by binging multiple youtube videos on it. This is my home screen:

I have hidden my dock and stored all my files in the Downloads folder.

This is my downloads folder:

Downloads

Downloads > Flame folder

Downloads > Flame folder > Term 3 folder

Downloads > Flame folder > Term 3 folder > IFLC folder

Besides just this, I really like editing videos too!! I shot this short humorous film with my cousin during lockdown (because we had binged Masterchef for a week straight as that was our only way to satisfy ourselves with extravagant, flamboyant dishes that we were deprived of because of the Lockdown). Here is the video. PLEASE WATCH AT YOUR OWN CAUTION!!

To reiterate, this session has opened my eyes in what I seem to lack in unlocking my full potential as a better student even a better person overall. I look forward to the upcoming classes and getting to know the professors better!!!!
